Behind the Scenes Breakfast 2014
Breakfast Behind the Scenes
The City Club at de Rosset House was the setting for a Behind the Scenes Breakfast fundraising event to benefit the Cape Fear Clinic (CFC) on May 20, 2014. The event was hosted by the Board of Directors of the Cape Fear Clinic. Invited guests included distinguished members of the community, clinic personnel, and volunteers who joined together for an informative morning to learn the operations of the clinic.
Barbara Biehner, President of the Board of Directors and John Devaney, Executive Director of the Clinic presented a synopsis of the interesting works, accomplishments, and changes that have taken place at the clinic since it was started under the name of Tileston Health Clinic in 1991.
The clinic's mission has been to provide medical care and related services to patients in need in Southeastern North Carolina regardless of their ability to pay. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, new rules have been imposed and the clinic has adapted to the changes. The discussion for the breakfast highlighted the new changes, the effects of the changes on clinic operations and the services provided.
A Silent Auction was the highlight of this fundraising event. Unusual prizes, fun prizes, and interesting experiences were available for bidding. Silent auction prizes included "Behind the Scenes" experiences with Bee Keeping, Screen Gems studio, Green Forest Farms, WHQR Public Radio, and Wilmington International Airport. There were also prizes for beach-goers, wine tasters and an evening with newspaper columnist Celia Rivenbark. The Clinic thanks the Board of Directors and sponsors for this successful event. Board members worked hard to obtain prizes, donations, and to publicize the event. The diligence of our Board of Directors resulted in the clinic raising $8,000.
