"Volunteers are not paid -- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless"
-- Sherry Anderson, bestselling author
Cape Fear Clinic was founded in 1991, as Tileston Health Clinic, by a group of dedicated volunteeers who recognized a need for health care to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. Now more than 23 years later, we are still a volunteer-driven organization. Our volunteers have been and continue to be instrumental in the operation of our clinic. Volunteers serve in every service area and department of our organization.
From the doctors, nurses, and medical support staff who provide medical services to administrative volunteers and everyone in between, we have volunteers.
For some of our volunteers, their commitment to our clinic transitioned to full time staff members: Dr. Jennifer Buxton, Director of Pharmacy Services, began as a volunteer in our pharmacy department while attending college. Adam Stribling, our Operations Manager, worked as a volunteer prior to joining our team as a Medical Assistant.
Our all-volunteer Board of Directors includes health care administrators, healthcare providers, educators, accountants, writers, CPAs, Pharmacists, and retirees who donate their time and talent to assist Cape Fear Clinic achieve its mission.
Our volunteers are pivotal to our continuing efforts to serve the low-income uninsured and underinsured individuals within our community. We are always happy to welcome more volunteers to assist us in any of of our departmetnts of service areas. No medical or other clinical experience is necessary, only the desire to help our patients.
